This is my favourite time of day; when the night starts to unfold herself around us and the last glimmering embers of twilight saturate the sky. I’ve photographed this proud arboreal friend more times than I can remember, she provides an arresting canvas for the artist, a satisfying composition for the photographer and a savoury visual feast for anyone passing by. She’s well known locally, standing less than a mile from my home and is so breathtakingly beautiful that she’s even had a folk song written about her. Check out ‘Valleys in the Flatlands’ by Anna Elias and The Forlorn Hope.
