Many of us have unknowingly spent decades subconsciously intensifying childhood memories, creating what we call ‘nostalgia’, and I think this is where the secret lies in starting to photograph more emotively. Could it be that creativity is maximised when we photograph environments most resembling those we enjoyed as children? I recently went back to this special place where I spent my formative years, climbing trees and making dens. I made this photograph to remind me of those magical times; using mournful Kodak Tri-X as a nod to the glorious alchemy of the celluloid epoch.
